Beauty In Imperfection

Arcane-Inspired Lettering Art 💎

In late 2024, I fell (again) into the Arcane obsession spiral. ✨ Don’t get me started—the characters, storytelling, and breathtaking visuals are pure magic.

Choosing a theme, quote, or character for my artwork was nearly impossible, but one scene visually impressed me (as if the show didn’t do that all the time): the cosmic consciousness realm from the final episodes. 🌌 The shift in illustration style and mood was mesmerizing, and I wanted to bring that otherworldly atmosphere into my lettering.

This piece is inspired by Jayce’s line in the final episode: “There is beauty in imperfections.” While Jayce wasn’t my favorite character, his moment with Viktor was a standout to me—an emotional reminder of their bond and the weight of their choices.

Exploration

I played with symmetrical Art Deco layouts and typographic structures to reflect the show’s theme.

Scribbles

To a better understanding of color, I tested palettes on rough scribbles before locking anything in.

Sketch

This stage was all about refining composition, key elements, and planning the text’s integration.

Special Effects ✨

My favorite part! 🎆
With so many possibilities, I struggled with where to start, but once the effects came together, the piece truly came to life. Adding depth, glow, and texture was key to capturing the scene’s mood.

One big challenge? Balancing readability with a strong dimensional effect—I toned it down a bit to keep the text clear while maintaining the immersive look. The Hexcore and Mercury Hammer were particularly tricky to texture, but I love how they blend into the final composition.
