Back in 2019, I joined the 36 Days of Type challenge on Instagram—a yearly design project where designers from all around the globe create an entire alphabet and numbers (0-9). This was my first time participating in a lettering challenge, and honestly, I just kind of went for it.
Using Procreate, I sketched every letter and number by hand, experimenting with letter shapes, different brushes, and textures. (This is where my addiction to grainy texture was born…). I kept things simple with a three-color palette and used this as a playground to explore and create lettering in a row.
This project wasn’t about perfection—it was about not giving up, having fun, trying new things, and seeing where creativity took me. Looking back, it’s still one of my favorite projects because it was fun starting every letter with a fresh mind without subject-specific limitations.
